Mystery and Suspense

Ok so before I start, I'm just lovin break and not being in school! Anyways, I'm enjoying the Mystery and Suspense unit were doing. I liked the movies we watched in class,
"Eisenhower the Illusionist" and "When a Stranger Calls."
The Illusionist movie was about a guy named Eisenhower and he became in love with this one girl during their childhood. They soon became broken up for a very long time as they got caught together. About thirty years, Eisenhower uses his skill...and becomes a magician, mainly performing illusions. He then recognizes her at one of his shows and she later finds out that it was him. So one day they meet up by talking about the good old days and then they soon fall back in love with each other. There is only one problem, she is supposed to get married soon to the Prince but she tries not too, and attempts to escape but he cuts the side of her neck during the escape and she then dies. Eisenhower then goes into this depression as he "pretends" that he will  never see her again. But at the end when he escapes the head sheriff tries to stop him but he doesn't. He has brought the love of his life back from the dead, sent her to another place where they will never be found together, and live happily ever after.
The movie "When a Stranger Calls" is about this babysitter that of course, babysits, these two children for these parents. During the time when she is there she gets this phone call from a stranger and all he would say is..."Did you check the children......?" After the fourth call she began to freak out and call the police. Later that movie she had the police trace the call and after she talked to the stranger she got a phone call from the police saying to remain calm, they are on there way to the house, and they traced the call coming from inside the house. She panicked and then we stopped watching the movie there. Gee.......Thanks a lot Mr.Potter!!

Mystery and Suspense Unit

Ok so we started this past week with our new unit for however long were going to be working on called Mystery and Suspense. So far I've enjoyed it! We read this story together in class that was about a women and her dog and a mental man. The dog will always stay alert and lick her hand if something was wrong. And one night a man from a mental institute escaped and news reported he can be anywhere. One when she woke up that night she obviously felt licking and heard what she thought was water running. So checked everywhere and when she got outside she felt a puddle of blood and saw that her dogs head had been torn up and that he....was dead. She then found out that it was the mental man that was licking her fingers.
We also saw a movie in class that involved a babysitter, the police, and mainly..the phone caller. Every so often she will get a phone call from a mysterious man and all he would say was, "Did you check the children?" She felt creped out and called the police every time he would do it. They later detected that the traced phone call was coming from inside the house, she opened the front door and there he was...arrested.
Ok so theirs one more week left till break. I swear if we get any homework ill kill myself!! I have a number one soccer tournament in  the country to attend on Christmas day at Orlando, Florida!!!! :)))

Civil Rights Paragraphs from stories we read

The many chapters we read from Nightjohn talks about events occurring and what had been happening through an eye-witness slave girl named Sarny. She briefly describes/explains what life as a slave is like and how things work around the area (in this case, slave plantation). She works a lot as slave and discovers many things throughout these chapters such as what a penny looks like. Then Nightjohn joins in which his wounded back from all the whipping he's received from his boss, Old Waller. He is the plantation owner. And during the nights, he offers an exchange of tobacco for people to learn the letters of the alphabet. Sarny later on accepts his offer and Nightjohn teaches her to say the letter "A." Sarny's mother, Mammy, later finds out what Nightjohn has been doing and then slaps him. He later convinces her to teach Sarny more letters.
The reading of a story named "Mascot" is about Malcolm X when he is in his teen age and his childhood is changing. At first he was an unsuccessful boxer and then he got switched school to Michigan because of his bad behavior. During the time he is his so called "Detention School," he realizes something. He is one of the only black people and all the white people treat him nicely, like a "Mascot." At school he becomes popular and wins the election of class president. There is one thing he notices about the whites. They use a lot of bad language as if they wouldn't care. His cousin, Ella, comes to visit him from Boston and suggests that he should go with her. So he does. He then realizes the environment there id filled with people he can relate to, Black people. And he enjoys it a lot. Later on Malcolm has a talk to his English teacher, Mr. Ostrowski, and asks if he is capable of becoming a lawyer. His teacher says no and suggests other careers for him but he declines and stays in Boston with Ella. That sums up the story called "Mascot."
The Great Debaters has many similarities and differences in both stories we read, Nightjohn and "Mascot." The Great Debaters and Nightjohn mainly focus on location at that time of point. Both stories occur in the South which contain many black people and many are treated kind of the same. Many people are racist but are also punishable for their deeds. The story "Mascot" and The Great Debaters relate to each other because they both share the concept of having equal rights. In "Mascot" equal rights is used when Malcolm X is treated nicely from white people, and in The Great Debaters equal rights is used when James Farmer (The Dad) accidentally runs over a pig. He then has to pay his depth of a price of $25.00 to these poor farmers. James Farmer is a high class man, and a whole lot educated than those guys but he still gave some of his life savings by earning money from working up to the farmers. That is how both stories relate to the movie, The Great Debaters.

[No subject]

Hello. Wow can you believe my 5 day weekend had gone by soo fast already?! I don't feel like going back to school tomorrow! But I had a lot of fun! My aunt and uncle came down from Boston, Massachusetts and visited for about a week. I worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and even Saturday! I made a lot of money though so thats good. Saturday and Sunday I had a tournament held here that our team hosted. We went 2-0-1. That's pretty good but unfortunately I didn't play Saturday mornings first game because I was getting sick (throwing up) all over the place early that morning so I was really weak! But anyways......
So I wasn't at school on Tuesday because of the Eastland-Fairfield Career Center field trip, so I missed the in-class assignment. I don't really understand what to do. I kinda forgot what the two stories we read as a class and by ourselves were about so I hope that doesn't affect me. However, I do know that we have to compare how the movie we saw (which I understood) to the two stories we read so I hope by watching the movie will help. You think it will?

My Weekend

Hello their! I had a pretty fun weekend i would suppose. Friday after school I went in to work and make some money. On Saturday I had to wake up early at 7:30 for a soccer practice then I as usual worked the whole day but I made a lot of money so thats a good thing! Probably enough to last me till the end of December?? I don't know we will see.
I was also surprised to see my aunt and uncle from Boston, Massachusetts unexpectedly. I haven't seen them for about 8 years and I'm glad to be spending the holidays with them. :)
Speaking of holidays I can't wait for this week at school! A two day week and a 5 day break and weekend?!?! That's going to be a ton of fun!! Might as well say a one day at school because this Tuesday, I'm going to be visiting the actual Eastland-Fairfield Career School all day so I won't be here at all. I'm soooo excited! And the Thanksgiving Weekend I have a soccer tournament so this will be fun. I haven't played a game in forever! But I will soon.
My weekend and this week will be a fun one for me. Only thing that bothered me is watching my Cleveland Browns lose upsettingly  to the Jacksonville Jaguars with a minute left. Their doing a lot better but still disappoint me at times.

Eastland-Fairfield

Hello everyone! Ok so on Friday at school me and a few other people went/did this Eastland-Fairfield field trip kinda thing and I had apparently signed myself up for Bioscience technologies. I was looking somewhere in the Engineering field but there were none available to was I had wanted. But thats ok! I found a lot of the "Hands On" activities they made us do were pretty fun! We messed around with plant measurements, and stuff like that with high tech equipment that are really expensive and could possibly be dangerous. We also did an activity where they had us do a saliva test, add some chemicals inside the tube and resulted in having our DNA show up. I thought that was really interesting!
I'm still undecided on what career I'm interested in and or if i wanna join this school/program thing? It's really interesting because it's a lot of fun hands on activities and it counts as a college credit and also experience into the career you are interested in partaking. So I'm still don't know yet but if you find these things interesting, go ahead and do it.

Happy Sunday!:)

Hello everyone! How are you today on this beautiful Sunday? I'm doing great thanks, I had a kinda good weekend this week. I worked Friday, then I went to the Varsity Soccer game Saturday. It was a depressing loss, especially for the seniors. Did you know that our senior class of 2011 finished off of a record of around the range of 95-1-4?!?! Well you better believe it. Because on their last High School Career game, they lost. During Freshman and Senior year they pretty much were undefeated and didn't lose. But that's ok, I will get over it and so will they hopefully. Sunday I woke up and totally forgot to change my clock one hour behind!!! So I was curious why I didn't get enough sleep? Haha and then I went to club practice then ate dinner with the fam and now doing this.....blog......
I have to say, English class is probably one of my favorites because it is easy and it's fun! We're doing simple stuff such as reading and what not not. Now we're reading the Trial, Twelve Angry Men, and it's getting interesting! I am the fifth juror and I am not involved as much in the play. I grew up in the poor areas in town and I enjoy watching Milwaukee major league baseball. I really wanna know what happens if the boy is "Guilty" or "Not Guilty."

It's whatever.....

Hello their! Happy Sunday, I'm here now typing this "kinda" exciting blog while listening to music and drawing a picture of............THE TELETUBBIES!!! :) haha I love to draw. I'm really good at it when I take my time but other than that I'm kinda stinky at it.
I thought when we were doing our To Kill a Mockingbird unit, that the activity of drawing Boo Radley was kinda fun. When I actually saw him during the movie I was quite impressed by the way he looked! Scout, the narrator, described him as really scary and that his cloths were ripped and he had blood stains and he had a scar that ran down his face. But when I saw him he looked like a regular human being. I guess with the children thinking that he was a scary person had them thinking that he looked like one too. But anyway.....I enjoyed the book a lot more than the movie. The movie however helped me visualize scenes that I didn't really understand while reading the book So it can go both ways but I would prefer the book.
Before I go, those of you reading this blog should come out and support our Boys Soccer Varsity team. Were number 4 in the nation and apparently number 2 in the state. Come out and support us going to the Regional Semi's on Tuesday November 2 at 7:00pm at Dublin Coffman High School. And before you know it...we could be returning to the Crew Stadium for the State Final! Go Lions!!!:)

Reading

So in class were obviously reading this book called To Kill A Mockingbird. If you don't know that by know.....you ought to see a doctor!! But anyways we found out that the verdict of the trial concluded as guilty. Tom Robinson was sent to jail while everyone else minded their own business. We had also started watching the movie. We stopped at the part where Tim Johnson, the dog, just got shot at by Atticus.
I enjoy reading the book rather than watching the movie because the book gets more in depth. The movie just finishes everything just like that. Yes it does take a while to read the book because it has a lot of pages for every chapter, and the letters are small, but as you're reading along....it seems like nothing.
I am very interested in reading ahead to see what will happen with everyone. Tom, the Finch family, the Euell's, Boo Radley, everybody! But their is still one thing that i have asked before that i still don't understand. What does the title, To Kill A Mockingbird, have to do with this whole book?!?! It's a mystery till we find out this week! :)

School/Weekend

Wow I can't believe this weekend went by soo fast!!! Like i was really looking forward to it, and now i'm sitting here typing my annual Sunday blog post. Incredible, anyways I had a really fun weekend! On Thursday, i had to go in and work the whole day, but I did make some money. On Friday I went in to take my temps test for the first time at around 9am. I was one question away from passing but unfortunately.....i failed:( then i had to work for dinner that night. So Saturday morning, I went back and came for revenge!!! I finally passed, and got my temps, then started driving, hahaha. Later i hung out at the high school with some friends to get together and shoot around. Then i didn't have to work thankfully, so i went over to a friends house to watch the OSU game against Wisconsin, and imma tell ya.....once it was 14-0......I knew it was over for us. So as I left his house....I decided to go ahead and get the stress out of my mind, by reading a book in class called To Kill A Mockingbird. I'm finding it a very interesting book, and just feel like reading on. But of course, I'm too lazy for that.....I really like part one where a bunch of different events occurred. Such as Scout, Jem and Dill messing around at the Boo Radleys house to try and see what Boo Radley looks like. And as Boo's older brother, Nathan, comes out with a shotgun to scare them away, Jem gets stuck and rips his pants on the fence and runs away, acting like nothing happened when the other neighbors came out to see what that noise is. Another part I liked was the scene with Tim Johnson and how everyone was freaking out. From what I've heard, part two will talk about the trial thats coming up in the Summer time. I can't wait to see whats gonna happen!!!

My Weekend/School

Wow this past weekend happened by soo fast!! Guess time flies by when I'm having fun in English class???... Anyways, we had just recently got started from a book called To Kill A Mockingbird, and already it has been giving me some difficulties. I mean i understand it here and their, but its getting better! I think I just overreact with how long each chapter is. Hopefully I'll do fine. This weekend was soo much fun for me! I went to go watch the girls team play on Saturday, dance at homecoming, hang with friends, etc. And this week it gets even better!!! Only 3 days of school, I go in to take my temps test Thursday, I might go to Cedar Point with the same friends, and many other fun things! I've been studying a lot more on the book rather than all my classes at school i would say. Thats kinda embarrassing but i probably should start focusing on school a lot more. Once soccer season started, i  kinda went downhill and now that its over, for me at least, i have time to do my homework right after school, study all my notes and stuff. I hope I get the chance to do better!

Stress Relieved!!!

Yeessss!!!! I am finally done with my research paper!!!! No more homework every night in English, wow ever since Mr. Potter decided killing trees, my emotions went from bad, to worse, but im glad now that were finally done. It took me a whole hour and 20 minutes to type that thing up, and an extra 5 minutes to get it on turnitin.com, and another 3 minutes for my computer to load, and another 2 minutes for me to figure out what i am doing at certain times. So in other words, i lied to you......i took a whole hour and 30 minutes working on my paper! and now i am taking 15 minutes to type this blog post thats really easy and fun to do and really worth bringing your grade up!!!Wow i gotta say...September was a stressful month with homework and soccer literally.....EVERYDAY!!!! god i just cant wait for club to start right after this. no more having to wear shin guards every practice, no more having to play with kids that are not that good, no more everything!!! our team is getting closer and closer to the biggest part of my year. That my friend, is the Disney College Soccer Showcase. The biggest tournament in the nation that my team is going to during winter break in Orlando, Florida for a week!! i am so excited. Hope October doesn't bring me a lot of stress in school or
English class. Which i am sure it will not :) because i like this class. Many rumors go out saying how were going to read a book called "To kill a Mockingbird." Hope thats not challenging. Alright i will see you in class tomorrow.

Research Paper

Hellooooo theree!! This past week our class has been working on a research paper about trials. I chose the Dr. Sam Sheppard trial. Its not that bad if you think about it. Yes you get homework almost every night for it, but on the flip side, it doesn't take that long. The note cards were pretty tough, but the works cited and title page are really easy! I just got done filling out my outline which is an essay structure on how to set up your paper when you start typing it. Its VERY resourceful and will help you a lot if you become its friend. Like me unfortunately.......but lets keep that a secret! ;) Hopefully this week wont be as tough for English class, hopefully it will go by quickly so i can get my sleep in. Other than that, i guess it will be ok. I need to start focusing a little more in a few areas from other classes besides English and this research project. Grades are great by i could do a little better than what i normally do. Well whatever you do, take my words of advice. And thats by not hallucinating about this project. Well see ya soon.

Keeping up with English 10

Hahaha i thought the title of this blog was funny! anyways....hello again! I'm here at home typing this boring blog when i should be finishing up my note cards for my research paper. But whatever, this is due by midnight so i should do it. Last week Mr. Potter had handed out the worst nightmare of my life......a research paper. As you can realize, thats one of my weakest points in English, especially when you are a given a specific topic that doesn't really interest you. And that my friend, is Trials. You know like when you go to court for a crime or felony? Well thats what were doing. I chose the famous Dr. Sam Sheppard case, where a guy named Sam Sheppard was accused of killing his wife apparently......It's pretty interesting, but i can't really find a good internet ("database") source. Therefore, i find it easier to focus on my book sources rather than my internet sources. I mean this doesn't mean i wont use my internet sources, but i will mainly find my information from my book sources. :) Other than that, all i need to do is get done with filling in my note cards, then the rest of the project should be pretty simple i think.........man i just wish this week will be over with! I have soccer games on Tuesday and Thursday, so for all you falls sports players out their.....you know what i'm talking about. It's difficult to get homework done at night when you either have a night game, if you have practice, or if you have a job. If this is you....i feel your pain :( Well  imma get off and finish my project. See you at school, and goodnight! ;)

English Class 9/7/10

Today in English class it was supposed to not be as exciting, but surprisingly....it was! i was expected to take a test (which i in fact did study for Mr.Potter) over Fiction and Non-Fiction. It isnt the most exciting topic in the world, but when you have a fun teacher like Mr.Potter, time flies just like that and u learn better when u have fun. haha instead today we worked on poetry. we read a few stories that were kinda confusing but eventually got the hang of it, and we had to answer questions about those stories. I thought my favorite was "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost because it was easy to understand because we did it as a class. and thats pretty much for today.....we got new seating charts, i cant sit next to my buddy ~Evren Gokcen~ or ~Abby Hersey~ because Mr.Potter wants us to meet new people every week so at the end of the year we wont have to be like....."oh whats his/her name again?" But i guess thats understandable...Hey! my buddy Evren is still close to me! he sits behind me. Did i ever tell u guys the story of how we met??? Well lemme tell ya! I was in kindergarten and my younger twin brother Nicko was in his class, and it was Evren's birthday on April 25th. He invited nicko to his party and i came along because i got jealous. And i met him at his house. Our first conversation was...Evren: "Whos that?!?!?!" (Sarcastically), Nicko: "Oh its my twin brother, Costa" and i gave him a pat on the back and then we kinda introduced eachother and left things like that. So in other words he was being a bully and saying u cant be here, i didnt invite you! Yeah and if ur reading this, i do remember it! HAHAHAHAHAHAH then here we are now. Only 15 minutes in of writing this pointless blog for one person to read it and comment saying..."it was good" got u know what?...imma get tired of doing this. ok well thank u for reading my first blog, hope u liked it and commented on it. Ill see u in class, imma bout to pass out now, pce
